Do you feel stressed, anxious or depressed?
Are you constantly in a state of worry?
Do you ever feel that you can’t see a way forward and that how you feel is affecting all aspects of your life?
You are not alone. 1 in 4 of us will experience some form of mental ill health in their lifetime.
Compass Tower Hamlets is part of the Primary Care Psychology & Counselling service. We can be your first step in understanding what is happening to you and in helping you take the first steps on a journey of change. Using an approach based on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), we will help you understand the connections between your thoughts, your behaviour and your feelings. We will give you the tools to help you make positive changes in your life.
We do this in 3 ways:
- Informing:We provide clear information about the different kinds of common mental health problems people experience with suggestions on what you can do to address these. To find out more about common mental health problems, click on ‘Lets Talk About Stress’
- Guiding you through self help treatments:After looking at the information leaflets you want to take things further, we offer guided self help as the first step on your path to feeling better. This can be done in a number of ways. You can attend one of our group sessions. You can access an online therapy service with support from our service or perhaps you might want to try a guided self help programme with one of our therapists. If you are having problems at work we can put you in contact with ‘Working For Wellness’, who help people stay in work when they are experiencing problems or get back to work after a period of unemployment. Our aim is to find the right starting point for you.
- Providing Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT): Many people find that using a guided self help approach is enough to get them on their way. If you are still experiencing difficulties, you may need a more intensive individually tailored therapy. If this is the case, we will do a detailed assessment with you and discuss further treatment options.
